If you’re never truly impressed with hotels, this one is certain to literally take your breath away. Situated in Ryfylke, Norway, this boutique hotel is going to be built into the face of the Preikestolen cliff, promising some of the most incredible views in the world. Designed by Turkish firm Hayri Atak, this concept is not for the faint hearted, but promises to become one of the most spectacular and unique experiences in the world.
The hotel is set to have nine guest rooms, a lounge area, lobby, restaurant and cafe along with one of the most terrifying yet thrilling swimming pools in the world. Talk about a room with a view, each one will look out into the abyss, creating the illusion of free falling. The designer was inspired to create this breathtaking hotel when his friend sent him pictures on top of this cliff.
Atak explained “the hotel can be thought of as a part of or an extension of the cliff”. He added that he wanted to create the most unique experience so used the pool to be a more thrilling and adrenaline pumping experience than seeing the views from the balcony.
In addition to stretching out over the cliff edge, the pool would also be completely glass bottomed, allowing the focal point of the entire hotel to be the view and the surroundings. If you’re afraid of heights, this is truly a vacation that is not for you.
The construction is expected to contain three descending levels of luxurious, modern rooms carved into the rock face, with the lowest level housing the unbelievable pool, which would be anchored to the top level. The boutique hotel will offer guests panoramic views of the surrounding fjords and mountains, something that simply cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
