Hollywood Is Rebooting ‘Face/Off’, Proving It’s Fresh Out Of Ideas

Paramount is rebooting Face/Off, one of the best movies ever made.

The 1997 ‘high-concept action film’ starred John Travolta and Nicholas Cage as sworn enemies who swap identities (and faces) while trying to take each other down.

The new Face/Off will be written by Oren Uziel, who was responsible for reworking the successful 21 Jump Street franchise for Sony.

In the original film, directed by John Woo, we follow Sean Archer (Travolta) as he tries to capture famed terrorist Castor Troy (Cage). When Troy is injured in a plane crash, Archer adopts his face and identity to try and foil terrorist activity.

Unfortunately, Troy then wakes up and is in need of a face. He forces the doctor to put Archer’s face on him, producing the most epic case of mistaken identity ever put to cinema.

It is unclear if the reboot will faithfully follow the plot points of 1997’s Face/Off. Either way, we can be sure that it will include plenty of action to keep audiences entertained.

Sadly, Twitter has not been too receptive to the news. Reports of the reboot have sparked outrage from film fans who wish Hollywood would produce something more than a reboot of a popular film from the past.

Currently, there is no director or release date announced. Will you be watching the new Face/Off? Let us know in the comments which acting duo you would like to see take on the roles.
