It’s finally here: the first official trailer for the highly anticipated spin-off movie of ITV’s Downton Abbey.

News of a Downton Abbey spin-off show first broke in July 2018, after the end of its six-season run in 2015. The film version will be directed by Michael Engler, who also directed four episodes of the show.

Downton Abbey became an immediate global hit upon its first season in 2011. It follows the lives of the affluent Crawley family and their Yorkshire estate full of workers and servants. Of course, the drama that unfolds among the family members and workers kept millions of us tuning in each week.

The original run of the show took place between 1912 (the sinking of the Titanic) until 1925.

The film sees the return of most of the original cast members, including Maggie Smith, Michelle Dockery, Hugh Bonneville, and Elizabeth McGovern.

The film will be released on September 13, 2019, in the UK. Audiences across the pond can catch it one week later. Will you be watching it?
